Come and listen to Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) Foundation volunteer Dave Dykes telling the story of the history and ongoing work of the CWGC.
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission is a global organisation, caring for war graves at 23,000 locations in more than 150 countries and territories. They commemorate almost 1.7 million individuals, ensuring that all the Commonwealth men and women who died during both world wars are commemorated in a manner befitting their sacrifice.
Since its establishment by Royal Charter in 1917, the Commission has constructed 2,500 war cemeteries, erected headstones over graves, and, where the remains are missing, inscribed the names of the dead on permanent memorials.
CWGC also have a duty to ensure that their sites remain well visited so that remembrance of the war dead continues in perpetuity.
Booking is essential. Please book directly at Loch Leven Community Library in person, via email or by calling 01577 867205.
