Interested in researching your family history? Join our fun, informal Family History Group. Help and guidance are available from our highly experienced volunteer. You may bring your own device, but library laptops will be made available on request. Please ask our library staff for further details.
Every fourth Friday of the month, from 2pm – 4pm.
Bookateers
Bookateers is our fun and relaxed book club for 8 to 12 year olds. Join us on the first Thursday of the month (except July and August) from 3.30pm – 4.30pm as we explore books from different genres, have a hearty discussion about what we’ve been reading and chat about our thoughts and observations about the plot, setting and characters! Themed activities relating to our book choice mean there’s never a dull moment. All welcome.
For more information, call 01764 661435 or ask in the library.
Bookbug
Bookbug is the Scottish Book Trust’s national Early Years programme. Sessions are free, friendly, fun sessions of songs, rhymes and stories for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and their families and carers to enjoy together. Our sessions are suitable for ages 0+.
There are gentle songs for bouncing babies and loads of chances to move for toddlers who’ve found their feet! There are also stories and probably a few rhymes you’ll remember from your own childhood.
Bookbug at Auchterarder Library. Every Thursday from 2.30pm to 3pm.
Cafe Books
Don’t miss out on Café Books, a relaxed book group where you can chat over a cuppa about what you’ve been reading. Unlike traditional book clubs, there’s no set books – just bring your own reads to discuss. Book recommendations from each session will be compiled by library staff and shared via email.
First Tuesday of the month, from 5.30pm – 6.30pm. Free – drop-in session.
Dog Friendly Fridays and Saturdays
Eight libraries across Perth and Kinross welcome well-behaved dogs and their owners every Friday and Saturday. As part of the Dog-Friendly Perthshire initiative, Culture Perth and Kinross were the first library service in Scotland to welcome dogs into their buildings.
The Library service recognises the role that dogs play in providing support and companionship to many people across Perth and Kinross, and the help they give to a number of people in social situations.
The eight libraries taking part in Dog-Friendly Fridays and Saturdays are the AK Bell Library in Perth, along with Alyth, Auchterarder, Blairgowrie, Comrie, Pitlochry and Scone Libraries. All libraries taking part will be providing a bowl of water for their four-legged friends every Friday and Saturday.
NHS Hearing Aid Drop-In Clinic
If you require help with your hearing aids, then please drop in to Auchterarder Library. The library offers free hearing aid batteries, and NHS Tayside volunteers, trained by the Audiology Department, can fit them for you.
Our volunteers are also able to replace tubing for standard hearing aids with ear moulds. They are also able to replace tubing and domes for Open Fit Style Hearing aids.
Second Thursday of every month, from 10am to 12pm.
