Chess Club
If your child would like to learn transferable life skills, then why not introduce them to chess? Chess helps to deepen focus, it helps to develop problem-solving skills and exercise the brain, and the chess club offers another social opportunity for your child.
The Strathearn Chess Club held at Strathearn Community Library is led by enthusiastic High School pupils. This informal club is as much about the chat as it is about the skill.
The free club runs every Wednesday (term time only) from 3.45pm – 4.45pm.
Suitable for children 8 – 12 years. Spaces are limited, so if interested, please sign by contacting the Library on 01764 657705 or via email [email protected]
Café Books
Don’t miss out on Café Books, an informal, relaxed session where people can discuss what they have been reading over a cuppa. Sessions will be on the first Saturday of the month, from 11am to 12.30pm.
Café Books is a book group where you can chat about the books you have read. Unlike conventional book groups, this group doesn’t read and discuss one book, they come together to discuss their chosen books with others.
After each session, the group leader will note any recommendations and the library will share this with the group via a follow-up email. The library will also support the group by processing book requests for those interested in reading the books under discussion.
Booking not required.
Strathearn Family History Group

Strathearn Writing Group
Come along to our monthly community writing group!
The writing group will be a relaxed gathering at Strathearn Community Library. After a few warmups, we will do a semi-structured activity, share what we have written and share our thoughts about the process.
A community of writers who support one another can be a great source of inspiration and encouragement. A writing group can offer a supportive environment of like-minded people who share a passion for telling stories.
The first session is on Tuesday 6 January 2026. Sessions run 5.30pm until 6.30pm.
Please contact Strathearn Community Library for further information.
