Two summer schools being held in Perth will teach budding artists and techies some valuable design skills.

Robot Wars Summer TechCamp at AK Bell Library and Young Designers Summer School at Perth Museum and Art Gallery, each lasting three days, are aimed at over-11s.

Young Designers Summer School is a fun, experimental series of workshops for ages 11 to 18 at Perth Museum and Art Gallery. Inspired by the museum’s collections, it covers many forms of creative design, including contemporary architecture, filmmaking, creative writing and costume design. It will include a tour of the museum galleries, mapping out imaginary buildings and cities, making 3-D models and costumes, and filmmaking. It runs from July 31 to August 2.

Robot Wars Summer TechCampwill teach 11 to 16 year-olds how to create, program and compete with a LEGO® Mindstorm Robot they have built with a team. Participants will learn coding principles, electronics and all-round digital skills at the camp, which runs from August 7 to August 9.

Booking is essential for both workshops, which are organised by Culture Perth and Kinross.
