The charitable trust is extending its new Click and Collect Service to new locations.
Over the past few weeks, and as part of a phased emergence from lockdown, Culture Perth and Kinross have resumed services at the AK Bell Library and Perth Museum and Art Gallery in Perth as well as reopening the Library in Blairgowrie.
From 13th August 2020, a new Collect and Collect service will operate from Auchterarder Library. Users will be able to reserve their books online via the library catalogue, make a request by email or even call the dedicated Click and Collect phoneline to place their order. Once their books are available, customers of the service will be contacted by library staff to arrange contact-free collection of their books from the Library on either a Thursday between 4pm and 8pm or a Saturday between 10am and 2pm.
Culture Perth and Kinross will also be operating its Click and Collect service linked to Pitlochry Library. Due to the restrictions of the building, the new service will be delivered from one of the familiar Mobile Library vans and will operate from Thursday 13th August from 4.45pm – 6.45pm, and every subsequent Thursday at this time thereafter.
Click and Collect will give users in the local area the opportunity to return books, borrow more of their favourite books, and perhaps even discover some new ones. Click and Collect allows library users to choose and reserve books and pick them up at a time that suits them without the need for a visit to the Library. Full details of the Click and Collect service are available on the Culture Perth and Kinross website. You can also email [email protected] or call on 01738 444949 Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm to find out more and make a request.
Following its successful launch on 15 July, the AK Bell Library in Perth has also extended its Click and Collect service with additional collection times making it even more accessible. In addition to being able to pick up books from the AK Bell Library West Library Car Park from Tuesday – Thursday 10am – 4pm, readers can now pick up their books at the AK Bell Library front door; Thursday 6pm – 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 2pm – 4pm.
Culture Perth and Kinross Libraries continue to provide an extensive range of digital services. This includes the option to download eBooks, audiobooks, digital magazines and newspapers online. During the lockdown, more than 12,500 eBooks and audiobooks were downloaded.
Helen Smout, Chief Executive added, “We know how many avid readers we have across the region and how much they have missed their library services and access to a broad range of books. We are excited to be able to continue to develop our new Click and Collect service and start the expansion of this to reach as many readers, young and old, as possible. These are challenging times, and many will find comfort in a book, which can transport them to anywhere in the world, or beyond and at any time, in the past present or future, provide reassuring words or even new ideas for a family supper. The new service has been well received in Perth and the team here at Culture Perth and Kinross are delighted to be taking this next step”.
