A new display will go on show at Perth Museum and Art Gallery from 8 May celebrating the work of members of local charity, CATH.
Over a number of weeks, the group from CATH have visited the museum in George Street and worked with members of staff from the Culture Perth and Kinross Learning Team.
The budding artists from CATH have drawn inspiration from the museum’s extensive collections, both behind the scenes and in the exhibitions, in particular Only in Whispers: The Myths and Legends of Perthshire and the permanent collection on display in the Wild and Wonderful gallery.
Using various forms of art medium, the group produced work to represent their favourite objects in the museum.
CATH Adult Literacy Worker Andrea Pullar noted that the project had made a positive impact on the members from CATH and that the experience has had a positive outcome for many of the members, “It’s been so wonderful to see how fulfilled and motivated individuals become as a result of coming to the museum each week, it’s been a fantastic opportunity for them and to see that enjoyment come to life and to see their creativity blossom can only be positive”.
Barbara Hamilton from the Culture Perth and Kinross Learning Team added,
“We have all really enjoyed working with the group who have so willingly shared their enthusiasm, love of objects, art and conversation with us to produce the display. We are really looking forward to sharing this work with our visitors.”
The display at Perth Museum and Art Gallery will run from the 8th May to the 16th July 2019.
