Culture Perth and Kinross have announced that access to their digital collection of eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines will switch from the RBdigital platform to Libby on Wednesday, 24 March 2021.
The library service will continue to offer readers a wide selection of digital titles they can access anytime, anywhere through the free, award-winning Libby app.
Readers will still be able to access their current downloads on RBdigital for the length of the lending period for each title, even if that date goes past the switchover on 24 March.
Once your book has been returned, users will have to download and sign up to Libby from their relevant app store to take out their next favourite book. You will still be able to browse, borrow, and enjoy all the same great eBooks, eAudiobooks and magazines which were available in the RBdigital app from Culture Perth and Kinross Libraries.
There will be some downtime in the RB Digital app in the afternoon of Wednesday, 24 March during the switchover.
Elaine Wallace of Culture Perth and Kinross said, “We are delighted to be introducing this change which will provide library customers with continued access to all our eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines. Over the past year, our eLibrary service has provided a great resource to our customers, and reading has continued to be a great source of comfort for so many people, especially when our buildings have been closed. Our digital library has been and will continue to be available 24/7 for customers, without the need to leave home. Readers can safely choose from bestsellers, fiction, nonfiction, books for kids, and much more, and it is completely free with a Culture Perth and Kinross library membership.”
All library readers need to get started in Libby is a suitable device and Culture Perth and Kinross library membership. The Libby app is free and easy to use and will guide readers through the setup process and get them connected to the digital library in just a few minutes to start reading or listening instantly on their computer, smartphone, tablet or eBook reader.
