Our annual William Soutar Writing competition is now closed. After a fantastic response to this years event, we had a total of 314 entries across all the different categories. Entries came from as far away as France, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
Marcas Mac An Tuairneir and Samuel Tongue are judging all the entries and Culture Perth and Kinross will inform those who are shortlisted at the end of March 2019. The prize-giving ceremony will take place in the Soutar Theatre at the AK Bell Library on the 26th of April for adults and on the 27th of April for children.
The inaugural Soutar Festival of Words will host over twenty events. Highlights will include author talks, a poetry slam, an open mic session, and traditional Scottish music. There will be opportunities for local people to gain an insight into the world of creative writing. The Soutar Festival of Words will take place at venues and outdoor locations across Perth over the weekend of 26th to 28th April. More information is available here.
A special thanks to Aberdein Considine and the Gaelic Book Council for supporting the competition this year.
