A series of events to celebrate Book Week Scotland taking place in Perth, Crieff, Blairgowrie, Kinross and Auchterarder have been announced by Culture Perth & Kinross Libraries. Book Week Scotland, which runs from 21-27 November, is a national celebration of books and reading that brings hundreds of free events to a variety of venues across the country.
Eight events are set to be staged across Perth & Kinross, embracing the official theme for Book Week Scotland 2016 which is discovery, celebrating how reading exposes us to a world of discovery, exploration and adventure. Writers set to visit the region include BBC radio Scotland presenter and author Theresa Talbot, children’s book author Keith Brumpton and best-selling crime writer Clare Mackintosh.
The 2016 events programme is a literary box of delights, with the full programme offering something for readers of all ages to enjoy:

- Meet the Author: Clare Mackintosh, 24th November 2016, AK Bell Library Perth
- An Evening with Theresa Talbot, 24th November 2016, Strathearn Library, Crieff
- Earthmovers in Scotland with David Wylie, 24th November 2016, Blairgowrie Library
- Charlie, Meg and Me; an illustrated talk with Gregor Ewing, 25th November 2016, Loch Leven Library, Kinross
- Family Fun with Keith Brumpton, 26th November 2016, Strathearn Library, Crieff
- Birds, Beasts and Books: An Illustrated Talk with Polly Pullar, 26th November, Scone Library

Book lovers can also get involved with Book Week Scotland activities by voting for their favourite Scottish book to screen adaptation, challenge a friend to take part in the #ReadingDare or finding their perfect book match with the Book Generator; a fun online quiz that will determine the ideal book for you or your friends and family. Those who just want to spend the week reading will also be well catered for, with thousands of copies of the specially commissioned free Book Week Scotland book being given away at Perth & Kinross libraries, bookshops and other venues throughout the week.

Initiated by the Scottish Government and supported, along with a Readers in Residence programme in libraries, by £200,000 from Creative Scotland, Book Week Scotland will be delivered by Scottish Book Trust. Scottish Book Trust works with a range of partners across the nation to deliver a packed programme of free projects and events during Book Week Scotland 2016, bringing Scots of all ages and from all walks of life together to celebrate books and reading.
