Perthshire Creates has moved one of Perth’s most popular design events online this summer.
The creative platform has collaborated with designers, and Jon Gill of Playful Communications, to launch their first-ever Digital Design Market in response to the coronavirus lockdown.
The online event launches at 6pm on Thursday 2 July and runs until 6pm on Sunday 5 July showcasing the work of 50 local makers, artists, and designers. This event will provide an opportunity for makers to showcase their original artwork including gifts, homewares, and accessories to a worldwide audience.
Local audiences can stay safe, browse, enjoy, and purchase directly from the makers, from the comfort of their own sofa, kitchen table, or garden hammock. Each artist will also have a special offer running for the duration of the event.
Participating artists will be creating short videos introducing themselves and showcasing their work and making process. These #MadeOnAMobile films have been created with the support of award-winning Tayside filmmaker, Jon Gill from Playful Communications.
Caron Ironside, Project Officer for Perthshire Creates, said:
“By adapting our Summer Design Market and taking it online, we’ve created an excellent online option so that neither the artists nor the audience miss out. It is a first for all of us involved and it has been exciting to see how many creatives have embraced a new way to reach their audience. This new format will hopefully open up audiences from far afield and provide a fun way for anyone loving handmade original artwork to engage directly with the artists.”
Perthshire Creates, supported by the charitable trust Culture Perth & Kinross is a network and online platform which showcases the region’s contemporary creative activities.
