This year’s Summer Reading Challenge will get your kids up to mischief – of the bookish sort!
Beano rascals Dennis and Minnie turned up at Perth’s AK Bell Library on Friday to launch this year’s Summer Reading Challenge for kids.
The Challenge, which encourages kids to read six books over the summer holidays, has a theme of Mischief Makers. It will be tied in with activities at the region’s 13 libraries, as well as interactive online games, word games and a story competition.
Sponsored by Tesco Bank, the Summer Reading Challenge was a huge success last year, with more than 1300 four-to-eleven-year-olds across Perth and Kinross signing up.
Morag Kelly, Head of Libraries with Culture Perth and Kinross, said:
“Sign-ups to our Summer Reading Challenge soared last year, and we hope for even better results this year. We know our Mischief Makers theme and the opportunity to promote literacy among our youngsters will appeal to both kids and their parents.”
The Summer Reading Challenge runs from Saturday, June 23 to August 18.
